WIZARDING OCCUPATION IDEAS:
Hogwarts students receive career advice from their Heads of House in their OWL year before they take their exams, to establish what subjects they need to concentrate on to progress onto NEWT level classes, and ultimately, into their chosen career path.
There are a great many jobs available within the wizarding world, but here are a few examples of jobs you might choose from when filling out the form above:
Ministry jobs
Department of Magical Law Enforcement
Arguably the most important of the various departments, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is a combination of police and justice facilities. It is located on the second level of the Ministry of Magic:
Auror Office
Applying for Auror training requires a minimum of five NEWTs at E or above, including DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions. Before starting their training, they must complete aptitude tests at the ministy which test their skills demonstrating the ability to react well to pressure, perseverance, dedication, and great skill in practical defence. Once accepted into the program, Auror training takes a further three years, and includes Concealment and Disguise as well as Stealth and Tracking, along with many other factors of rigorous training.
Improper Use of Magic Office
This office is responsible for investigating offences under the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery and the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy. They regulate an under-age wizard's or witch's use of magic and prohibit wizards and witches from performing magic in the presence of Muggles or in a Muggle-inhabited area.
Wizengamot
The Wizengamot serves as the wizard high court of law. The high Wizard court of law, held in a dungeon; the accused is magically bound to a chair in the center of the room. A jury sits on the right of the prosecutor who states the case against the accused and eventually asks for a verdict. The courtrooms are located on the tenth level of the Ministry of Magic. The members of the Wizengamot, of which there are about fifty, wear plum-covered robes with elaborate silver initials on them.
Magical Law Enforcement Squad
Pursues day-to-day law offences - Auror's may be comparitable to a higher authority like the FBI or CSI, while Magical Law Enforcement are more like everyday police officers who respond to lesser emergencies, and will often call in a higher authority if they think the situation they are faced with needs it.
Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office
This office deals with muggle items which have been cursed or charmed in some way to make them perform acts which that object may not usually do. This office often has to extract these objects from the hands of muggles who believe they had bought an ordinary item, then could not explain the reason why their new teatop was producing soup from water, as an example.
Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
This department is responsible for repairing accidental magical damage in the wizarding world. It is located on the third level of the Ministry of Magic and houses the following offices:
The Accidental Magic Reversal Squad
A squad of wizards whose job it is to reverse "accidental magic." These accidents are normally caused by young witches and wizards who have not learned to control their magic. They may also be caused by older wizards out of control, or severe, unintentional effects of charms or spells, such as splinching.
The Obliviator Headquarters
"Obliviator" is the name for a Ministry of Magic employee who has the task of modifying the memory of a Muggle who witnesses incidents belonging to the Wizarding world. Obliviators appear to perform their task with a near-perfect success rate, keeping the Muggle world completely oblivious to the existence of the Wizarding World.
The Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee
This office explains any major magical accidents to the Muggle world by creating a non-magical reason for the accident to cover up the true events which occurred.
Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures is divided into three divisions (the Beast Division, the Being Division, and the Spirit Division). It is located on the fourth level of the Ministry of Magic.
The Beast Division
is one of three divisions under the control of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. It deals with all duties and problems concerning those magical creatures classified as a "Beast" by the Ministry of Magic. Sub-divisons:

Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures
Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau
Ghoul Task Force
Werewolf Capture Unit
Werewolf Registry
The Being Division
is one of three divisions under the control of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. It deals with all duties and problems concerning those magical creatures classified as a "Being" by the Ministry of Magic. Sub-divisions:
Goblin Liaison Office
Office for House-Elf Relocation
Werewolf Support Services
The Spirit Division
is one of three divisions under the control of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. It deals with all duties and problems concerning those magical creatures classified as a "Spirit" by the Ministry of Magic. Ghosts objected to the prejudice against the living-impaired implicit in their being classified as Beings (they consider themselves Has-Beens), so they're handled by the Spirit Division.

The department is located on the seventh level of the Ministry of Magic:

Official Gobstones Club
Ludicrous Patents Office
Department of Mysteries
The Department of Mysteries, located on Level Nine is a department in the Ministry of Magic which studies particular enigmas (death, time, space, thought, and love) and stores copies of prophecies. Because of the covert nature surrounding this particular branch of the Wizarding government, most of their operations are kept in total secrecy from the general wizard population.
Unspeakables
The Unspeakables are the group of wizards who work in the Department of Mysteries (their identities classified for security reasons).
Most jobs at the Ministry of Magic require relatively high NEWT results, some higher than others. School leavers will generally have to start at the bottom and work their way up through the ranks to get to the job that they desire at the end. Don't expect to leave school, join the ministry, and within three months be Department head!
OTHER JOBS:
While the Ministry of Magic is a popular place for witches and wizards to work, it is not the only location in the wizarding world where people can go to earn their keep. Other places of work will have their own grade requirements to get in - a job at St. Mungo's hospital will require better results than someone who works as a shelf stacker in Florish and Blotts, for example. When picking your character's career, pick something relevant to their level of skill and keep it real!
Other jobs include:
St. Mungo's Healer/Trainee/Welcomewitch/Assistant

Pubs: Leaky Cauldron, Three Broomsticks, Hogs Head bar staff

AND MANY MORE!
Whatever job you choose, try to keep it as real to your character as you possibly can! If you put a job in your Graduation Form that we think is too advanced for your character based off their position or grades, we'll PM you about it and either ask why you think they'd be able to get that job, or suggest you pick something more suitable to their skill set.
This isn't an exhausted list, so if there's something not listed here that interests you then feel free to put it in your Form, just make sure it's realistic!
