The house was as quiet as could be, the only noise that could be heard was the soft breathing of Nymphadora from where she lay on the sofa. Getting Dora down for her nap had been no trouble for once, but now Andromeda needed her to wake up. "Dora, it's time to get up baby." Andromeda said gently, kneeling beside the small child, trying to wake her from her sleep. Nymphadora had been asleep for two hours, which was how long she usually slept, but Meda didn't want her sleeping so long that she wouldn't go to bed later on that night. They had been up before Ted had left for work, and she really wasn't up for saying awake too late tonight. Rubbing gentle circles on Nymphadora's back, Andromeda repeated "Dora, It's time to get up." once more, and Nymphadora stirred slightly, looking at her mother for a moment before closing her eyes again. Figuring it would be safe to let Dora sleep a little bit longer, Andromeda got up and walked to her room to get her purse and wand from her nightstand. She then brushed any tangles from her hair and straightened her skirt out. Once her appearance was okay, she made her bed since she neglected doing so that morning. Andromeda knew it would have to be done sometime, and what's a better time than now?
Once her bed was made Andromeda left to try and wake Nymphadora again, making sure she had her wand this time. In the sitting room, she got back on her knees beside her daughter. Going back to rubbing Dora's back gently, Meda asked "Dora, do you want to go get some ice-cream?" and, at the mention of ice cream, her eyes popped open and Dora nodded, rubbing at her eyes. Picking Dora up, Andromeda told her "Go potty, and then we'll leave." smoothing Dora's white dress in the back. Promising Nymphadora something sweet always worked. Andromeda would probably regret it later in the day, When Dora was even more wound up than usual, but a trip to Florean Fortescue sounded like a good idea. Though she really didn't take Nymphadora into Diagon Alley too often, Andromeda figured they needed a day out and away from the house. Sure, they went for walks but it was never too far from home and they didn't stay out too long. Their trips into Diagon Alley were even shorter, Andromeda never knew who she was going to run into, and the last people she wanted to see were some old Slytherins. They weren't very thrilled with her right now, and hadn't been for a long time. Showing up with her half-blood daughter would just reopen old wounds, and quite possibly, make things even worse.
Letting Nymphadora go off and use the bathroom, Andromeda made sure Dora had something to play with and drink in her purse. She was turning lights off when Dora came out and said "Mummy, I'm done." to which she turned around and said "Alright, let me turn these last few lights off and then we'll go." Swooping down to kiss Dora on her forehead. Well, apparently Nymphadora wasn't in the mood to wait any longer because she started whining "No, I want Ice cream now!" while looking like she was about This irritated her a little bit. Dora was still a little sleepy, and she could tell. It was the only time her daughter would get whiny. Andromeda was not having it "Stop acting like that Dora." She told her firmly, that didn't work. So she got down to Nymphadora's level and told her "I need to turn the lights off, now stop or we're not going at all." Dora stopped for a moment and asked "No ice cream?" and Andromeda said gently "Not if you don't behave yourself." She really meant it, Andromeda really wasn't in the mood for one of her fits. This seemingly worked because Nymphadora huffed "Sorry Mummy." and Andromeda was able to turn every light in the house off.
Now that everything was set, Andromeda grabbed Dora by the hand and went to the fireplace. Out of the small, dusty, black bag that sat on top of it, Andromeda grabbed a handful of the powder in it. She picked Nymphadora up before stepping into the fire, telling her daughter to close her eyes, clearly saying "Diagon Alley!" before quickly dropping the powder. Instantly she found herself stumbling slightly out of the fire. Andromeda's main concern was not dropping Dora while trying to maintain her own balance. After she was sure she could keep her footing, Andromeda set Dora down and opted for holding her daughters hand instead. "Stay with Mummy, alright? I don't want you to get lost." she instructed and Dora, always wondering what sort of reaction she could get out of her mother, asked "Would you miss me?" This question caught her off guard, but Andromeda gave her a simple "Of course I would." As an answer. Dora seemed satisfied with her reply because she happily exclaimed "Let's get ice-cream Mummy!" Trying to pull her mother in the direction of Florean Fortescue's. Andromeda laughed as she allowed her daughter to lead her to the ice cream parlor, it seemed that she wanted something nice and cold. Once they were able to get inside Andromeda told Florean "We'll have two strawberry ice-creams, please. And some napkins if you will." and waited for the wizard to hand them what they wanted. When he handed her the two cones Andromeda led Nymphadora to one of the tables and gave her one of the cones, which she sat there quietly eating. As Andromeda enjoyed her own she looked up in time to see Nymphadora change her hair to match her cone. It had been a nice, natural shade of blonde before. Andromeda sighed, she knew the subtle hair color wouldn't last long, but there was nothing she could do about it.
