"Sharing clothes is... well, I guess it's not all that different." Bethany kicked a little cloud of glitter into the air, but it didn't go very high. She wasn't entirely sure how to frame her next argument; she didn't want to give in completely, but Addie was making some pretty good points. Of course, it could be said that it wasn't exactly an argument, but that was beside the point. "Isn't there a bit of a rebellious phase in between, though? I mean, you don't just go from a little kid following your mom around to sharing clothes with her. That'd be a little weird." It reminded her vaguely of the science fiction books some of the older kids in her town read, the ones her parents had said she was too young for before she left for Hogwarts.
Gold and red was the perfect combination for two Gryffindors, and though Bethany was tempted to add another color, that would mean losing the red, so she kept shooting out the sparks, glad for the first time that they weren't catching fire on anything. A room full of burning glitter might be interesting, but not when she was standing right in the middle of it. "I mean, he is kind of the head of the school, isn't he?" That was what she assumed Headmaster had always meant, though it had partly come from her being a little girl and trying to figure out how a normal school worked. "Different head, different brain, and everything changes."
Bethany had largely gathered that Addie didn't much like the squid, and though she was tempted to tease her a little, she held back. After all, the other girl disliked it enough to shudder, and she wasn't a kid -- even the ones who weren't bratty were fun to tease, as long as she didn't terrify them -- so Bethany decided that perhaps she ought to drop the subject, or at least shift it to something else. "It's not the only thing in the lake, at least," Bethany said. "There are neat little fish, and I've heard that there are merfolk somewhere in there." It was a rumor, but one day she wanted to find out if it was true. She just needed to perfect the Bubble-Head Charm, since drowning didn't seem particularly enjoyable.
