Inside the castle walls, students return to the familiar routine of the school year; 9am classes, and dorm room gossip, while outside the castle walls the world becomes more and more unpredictable. War is looming. Terror is lurking. Fear is waiting. And one man can not keep reality from breaching the walls... Now everyone is being pressured to pick sides...
Each year, it is the job of the Hogwarts Prefects and Head Students to plan and organize events around the school.
This Halloween, they have opted for a Haunted House experience on the grounds!
Upon exiting the castle, you will be greeted by a low lying fog, separating into a clear path
that leads you to a dilapidated house, with the trees of the Forbidden forest looming behind it.
Many horrors await you inside of the Haunted House of Horrors!
There is, of course, a catch! The Marauders (courtesy of the fact that James and Remus have been involved in the planning!)
have taken this opportunity to add a few extra tricks, treats, and scares to the house, so tread carefully within.
This is, optionally, a dice game to keep things exciting! More info will be provided.
Giant Pumpkin Carving!
It simply wouldn't be Halloween without Hagrid's giant pumpkins! This year, however, it's up to the students to get
involved in carving some pumpkins up. Battle through the fog and make your way to the Gamekeeper's Hut - you'll
recognize it for it's orange glow. All the tools and carving equpitment you need are waiting for you, so don't
miss your chance to create a pumpkin masterpiece!
Candy Costume Party!
Halloween requires costumes. It also requires sweets and candy. Therefore, it's only right we throw a candy costume party!
This year, Honeydukes are providing the treats - all of your familiar favorites and a few new, slightly bizarre ones
to try out.
Slugs, Bugs, Warts, and Bones, whether you want a Slimy Slug Sour, or a Freaky Finger Fruit Pop, Honeydukes
has provided everything your could ask for!
So put on your best costume and work up a sweet tooth, then join us in the Great Hall for a Sugar and Spice,
All Things Scary and Nice Candy Costume Dance!
REMUS JOHN LUPIN 17 - gryffindor - prefect - werewolf
about Remus is outgoing, kind, and good for a laugh. He's witty with a sharp sense of humour, intelligence showing with this. He is a relaxed individual, generally just happy that people like him when they're being friendly. He can come across as shy and withdrawn, as it takes a lot of trust for him to reveal much about himself. This isn't because he doesn't want people to get to know him, he's just concerned they might try piecing together that he's a werewolf. This fact about him is known only to his family, Dumbledore, and scattering of staff members, Severus Snape, and the other Marauders, and no one else will find out any time soon.
Speaking of the Marauders, Remus can be seen with them all the time. They are his best friends, and he'd do anything for them - including overlooking their bullying of Snape he abhors so much, and any rule-breaking they might do. After all, he's often breaking rules with them. That said, he does take his Prefect position very seriously. He's friendly towards and helps out anyone looking lost and reports on anyone breaking rules. Out of the Marauders, he's the one most concerned with schoolwork. He think's it's a privilege to be at Hogwarts an enjoys learning. He gets good marks and can be seen around studying or helping other people out with work.
friends Remus is friendly. Should he see someone in trouble, he'll help them out, as he feels he should as a Prefect. He's always there when asked for. He doesn't like to get too close to anyone outside the Marauders for fear they'll discover what he is, but that doesn't mean he isn't willing to expand his circle of friends anyway. He doesn't mind what House or year people are in, although gets along best with people his own age. Remus makes a very good friend. He can keep a secret extremely well, is very trustworthy, loyal, empathetic and tolerant of others.
enemies There are plenty of people Remus doesn't like. Anyone showing prejudice loses his respect quickly, especially if it's towards werewolves. He tries to overlook it, but it can be difficult. Since he tends to avoid people he doesn't like, he doesn't give mutual dislike a chance to blossom into full-blown enemy-ship. When he does, he acts annoyingly civil towards an enemy, letting him claim the moral high ground if anything did happen. In many ways this can be more annoying that if he just went out and insulted them. It's hard to tell who he doesn't like sometimes, but he's not the sort to bare grudges or get into fights.
romance A romantic relationship isn't really on the cards for Remus right now. Being afraid to let people get close limits anything romantic. He's concerned he may harm anyone he's romantically involved with. There have been girls he's liked, but he's always been too shy to admit any feelings or felt they could deserve better than a werewolf. He's not one for short-term or one-time things, preferring to commit, and in all honesty romantic relationships are quite low on his list of priorities.
relationships Sirius Black - One of his three best friends, the two get along extremely well. Remus likes Sirius a lot, but sometimes he feels as if his rule-breaking goes too far. Still, he would happily talk to Sirius about anything. James Potter - Another of his best friends, Remus used to think James was too arrogant for his own good, but thankfully that's got a lot better recently. Remus thinks James makes for a good laugh and trusts his advice. Peter Pettigrew - The third of his three best friends. Peter is slower and more quiet, but Remus and the other Marauders can drag him out of his shell. Remus trusts him, but for some things (especially anything work-related) he prefers to go to Sirius or James for advice. Severus Snape - They don't get along well. At all. The two are enemies with a relationship beyond repair. Still, Remus refuses to bully him, feeling sorry for him and being grateful he hasn't told anyone what he is.
Remus and Sirius Aww look I got an honorable mention! Obviously this is pretty set in stone already, so there's not much up for discussion xD So I'll just throw him out here to let you know that I am up for threading these two literally any time, and I would highly encourage that you go join the feast thread in the Great Hall where Sirius and James have not wasted any time in wreaking havoc for their seventh year!
Remus and Addie They may be familiar with each other, considering she's just a year younger and in Gryffindor. I think Addie would like Remus a lot, because let's face it, he's kind of hard NOT to like. She's a sweet girl, who's into your typical girly things like shopping and makeup and boys and gossip. She's been to known to party and flirt and tease, but she also thinks her schoolwork is very important, so she's a balance between the two worlds. Kind of like Remus, who's all about studying but also is involved in the prank-crazy Marauders. She's aspiring to be a Healer in psychological trauma due to her own experience with schizophrenia and anxiety (and Seeing but that's not really a mental disorder).
Remus and Dex Dex is a fourth-year Ravenclaw, a Seeker on the Quidditch team, son of a somewhat well-known spell inventor and potioneer and writer of the same name. As an intellectual guy, Remus may have heard of him. Dex is a lot like his dad in that he's pretty good at, well, everything, except he's not social. At all. He's quiet and awkward and clumsy and nerdy, and therefore subject to bullying. He much prefers the company of books to people, and although he would probably like Remus should they talk, he would never approach him.
Remus and Charlie Charlie's an adult, so his activity right now is minimal, especially with students. He's a vampire that has been secluded from the world for a while, but with his newfound involvement with the Death Eaters, he's getting more involved in the 'real world' again. He may pop up in Hogsmeade now and again, because he liked it when he was a student (ex-Slytherin), and because he has a slight gambling problem, and Hogsmeade is the perfect place to feed that addiction. He's pretty ougoing, though not very trusting and kind of paranoid, and he typically doesn't like humans all that much, or so he says. Remus is polite, so there probably wouldn't be any problems, until they got into war stuff, in which case, they're enemies.
Remus and Sirius Yep, pretty much. I'll go join that thread at some point today, looks fun! I'm up for RPing them whenever as well, could get James Potter involved too. All we need is a Pettigrew and the Marauders are complete!
Remus and Addie Remus would definitely know her, and would like her since she values work. I imagine they'd get along well, but Remus would be lost when it came to girly things. They'd see each other a lot around the Common Room and Library.
Remus and Dex He'd have heard of Dex's dad, and might mention it if he saw Dex standing around, but wouldn't want to interrupt any studying or whatever to talk.
Remus and Charlie He wouldn't like Charlie because of his involvement with the Death Eaters, but would still understand him a little due to the vampirism. There's always a chance they could run into each other when they're both sneaking into Hogsmeade. Remus would act pleasantly enough, but wouldn't want to have much to do with him. He wouldn't say anything too rude or aggressive unless Charlie did or said something that made him more angry (insulting his friends/Hogwarts/werewolves/etc), in which case he'd first go for cold, calm sarcasm before getting properly angry. Remus wouldn't want to get into a fight, since he's aware he probably can't take on an experienced adult (or a vampire).
James Potter~ 7th Year, Head Boy, Quidditch Captain, Marauder Like Simoriah said, these guys are pretty much set in stone - there's not questioning their relationship at all. You should definitely join the feast, and we should definitely get a trio thread for the three of them running at some point.
Raphael Dane~ 6th Year, Fun, In-denial alcoholic, Quidditch Player Raphael spends most of his time with a bottle of something or other at hand, and the majority of his time getting wasted. But, he's in denial about the fact that he has a problem with drinking. He doesn't do things to be intentionally mean - he loves being happy and carefree too much, though he does occasionally find it fun to wind up studious Ravenclaws in the library. When he's completely wasted drunk girls become a different species and he's all over any guys near by him, which could be interesting... Picture prefect Remus running into drunk Raphael after hours, but Raphael is too drunk to care that he's supposedly in trouble and is just trying to flirt and invade Remus' personal space? XD
Dominique Keys~ 5th Year, Fake, B*tch, Sleep around, Bully(ish) Everything that Dominique lets people see is just a lie. She acts the way she feels that she has to act, even though it's not true to her at all. She's spent her entire life being compared to her older sister and never meeting her family's standards of perfection, so she does what she has to do to come across and confident to the point of cruel to keep a reputation around the school. She's a nice, decent person underneath the mask she puts on, but she doesn't feel she can show it. She has quite the reputation for being a sleep around, but you can just talk to Sirius about that ;P
CJ Warren~ 4th Year, Quidditch Player, Fitness Fanatic, 'Cool' Kid CJ wants to be 'down with the cool kids', but he's also the kid that's come into his fourth year with a very strict schedule planned out for when he's going to work out, practice Quidditch, do homework, revise, and read ahead in classes, and he's determined to stick to his schedule as much as he can. He's at the age where he's obsessed with girls and fitness, but also his studies. He won't accept anything less than perfection, and he's got big ambitions. CJ is the sort to turn up to geeky clubs like Chess Club, then threaten anyone who tries to tell others that he does something so 'uncool'.
Ryan Olsen~ 4th Year, Gender Queer, Reserved, Self-Harmer Ryan was born female but does not identify as such. He prefers male pronouns and a male name, as well as male dress. He calls himself gender queer or gender fluid, and is reluctant to use the term transgender because of the social stigma attached to it. He's closed off and shows people the cold shoulder until he knows they're not going to make fun of him or disrespect his gender identity. A lot of people refuse to call him Ryan or use the right pronouns. Ryan, despite being fourteen, has discovered that alcohol, cigarettes, and self-harm make for excellent coping mechanisms to get through day to day life, especially on days when his dysphoria are threatening to overwhelm him.
Georgina Parkinson~ 1st Year, Bad-to-the-bone, Manipulative Georgina is one of those kids who was just born bad. As a toddler she was destructive and laughed at others getting hurt, and the more her parents tried to fix her the more she rebelled, spending most of her days on the streets with a gang of older kids, often helping them with petty crimes like theft, because who would suspect those big eyes of anything untoward? She's cruel and manipulative, and is known for inflicting pain on animals and enjoying it, and she's already aspiring to be a death eater. This kid is way too evil.
Sven Zalenski~ 900+ Vampire, Legilimens, Airline Owner, Open Sven is over 900 years old, after become a vampire in his early 30s. He was highly skilled in Legilimency before he was turned and has since worked further on his skill. He's done a bit of everything and loves new experiences. At current, he runs a muggle airline in London, but he's growing interested in other things, like teaching, so he's starting to spend time around Hogsmeade on weekends that the school is there to see whether he's interested in teaching that age group. He likes new experiences and meeting new people, but he can be stubborn, old fashioned, and numerous other not so good things.
Raphael and Remus That would be pretty funny. Remus wouldn't approve of the alcoholism, and would try to drag a drunken Raphael to a teacher after docking a couple of House points. If he started invading his personal space, Remus would have no idea what to do and would get seriously awkward.
Dominique and Remus He'd have heard about her from Sirius and other boys, no doubt, then. If she doesn't like showing anyone what's underneath her mask, Remus would not like her. He'd understand the having to live up to high expectations part, but he wouldn't like her cruelty and would accept that some people just liked to sleep around, but wouldn't be too thrilled by it.
CJ and Remus I can see Remus getting along with CJ, but I don't think he'd initiate conversation. He'd give any help if asked, though.
Ryan and Remus Ryan is someone Remus would sympathise with a lot. Being on the receiving end of loads of prejudice himself (not that people know when they're insulting him), he knows just what it feels like. Especially since this is set back in 1977, when things were even worse for gender fluid people. Remus wouldn't know Ryan since he's three years younger and keeps to himself, but if he ever witnessed any bullying or saw Ryan being isolated/excluded, he'd go over to try cheering him up. He'd use the correct pronouns and name, though I think since back then people weren't so aware of gender fluidity it would be a fairly new concept to him. He'd never tell Ryan why he understands his position, but I feel the two could learn from each other.
Georgina and Remus Wow. Remus would do what he could to enforce the rules. Especially if he ever caught her harming an animal. He'd give her a good stern talk about how at her age she shouldn't be doing this sort of thing, how she can turn herself around, etc.
Sven and Remus Remus would be wary of Sven, but not afraid to talk with him. He'd speak with him enough to keep him happy, but wouldn't seek out more interaction unless Sven said something that either really interested him or made him suspicious.
James, Sirius & Remus I wouldn't really hold out much hope on a Peter. He's never been a popular take. I think we only had one once :S
Raphael and Remus Raphael wouldn't even notice if he was feeling awkward. He seems to lost the ability to recognize normal social signs when he's really drunk.
Dominique and Remus I think these two could go down one of two routes - ignore each other, or something closer to enemies. It will probably be the sort of thing where it would depend on how they actually interact and stuff.
CJ and Remus I think a run in with each other in the library or a study area would work out for them, just more as a bit of casual conversation while studying, rather than it being any kind of proper friendship, per say.
Ryan and Remus Yeah, Ryan feels there is more social stigma attached to the term 'transgender' so he sticks with gender fluid, not that it really helps at all. Ryan spend a lot of time by himself, or giving others the cold shoulder and hoping they'll stay away from him. He initially wouldn't know what to make of Remus if he approached him, but if he used the right name/pronouns Ryan might warm up to him a bit. They could be fun to play out.
Georgina and Remus She'd... laugh and call him various names that an eleven year old shouldn't even know... She's not fixable.
James, Sirius and Remus That's a shame. How should we do a werewolf thread without Peter? Still up for it, just thinking we should come up with some reason Peter's not there.
Raphael and Remus Even better. This would be hilarious.
Dominique and Remus I agree. Remus would try avoiding speaking to her much, but the more they talked the closer they'd come to being enemies.
CJ and Remus I can't see them getting too close either. Neither would try meeting up outside seeing each other occasionally in the library. Remus might smile at CJ in the corridors, that's about it.
Ryan and Remus Remus would be put off at first if given the cold shoulder, but then would try talking again. He'd think that maybe if he talked to Ryan he'd be happier to make more friends of his own, and would feel better for getting support rather than trying to go through everything alone. I think Remus would end up more of a mentor than a friend as such.
Georgina and Remus Remus would be aware there's no way to fix her, but he'd still punish her. He'd ignore rudeness, but when taking away a few House points doesn't work on several occasions, he'd just take her to a staff member to make it their problem. He'd watch out for her in the corridors in case she tried something, too.
James, Remus, and Sirius I don't mind putting it off, but I also don't think it's necessary. There can be any number of excuses that Peter's not there - Hell, it could just be that the three of them have no idea where he is either. But the ones Jaycie listed work really well too. Or if we wait, it could be over the holidays and Peter went home whereas the other three did not, or something. Even if we don't do it right away we should at least have a trio thread.

James, Sirius and Remus Detention idea sounds good! James and Sirius could have got him involved in something, then managed to avoid detection while Peter got caught. I could start this thread at some point today if that's OK with you!
