Lily is an average seventeen year old girl who would easily blend into a crowd of people, if it weren't for her hair. Being a redhead is probably her most distinguished feature, except of course if you are a Weasley or a Prewitt. In normal light it could be described as a dark shade of red, although in bright (sun)light the color will be more intense and brighter. Her hair is slightly wavy and falls just about halfway down her back. She usually wears it loose and does not care to much about it, except for a daily brushing and regular shampooing.
Between the curtains of crimson lies a pale, oval shaped face. She has been told that on that face lies her best asset, her bright green eyes. From the look in her eyes you can read her current mood perfectly. Big, round when in concentration. Small laughing wrinkles in the outer corners matched with a bright smile when happy. And narrowed to tiny emerald slits, usually complemented with bright red cheeks and ears when angry. Overall her face is mostly an open book even though she tries hard to hide what she is really feeling or thinking sometimes. Her nose is small, with the tip ever so slightly pointed upwards, and a few small freckles are scattered on the bridge of her nose and her cheeks. She is not one for make-up, only on occasion but not on a daily basis.
Her body type is best described as petite, but feminine. You could say everything is in proportion for a seventeen year old young woman. When not in school robes her clothing style is practical and comfortable. She never cared much for fashion. Back when she was younger and dressed by her mother, her clothes had been more fashionable, considering her mother has a great eye for detail. But once Lily hit puberty and hit it with a bang at age 13, she started to resent the frilly skirts, neatly ironed blouses and matching black mary jane shoes. Ever since then she is mostly seen in comfortable sweaters and tops with no prints, jeans and trainers.

Lily is overall a kind and loving person. That is until you prove her wrong and betray her trust. Then things will never be the same again between you and her. She always gives people the benefit of the doubt, not guilty until proven otherwise and what not. This has more then often led up to a few of her most painful memories, such as her own sister out-casting her for being a witch and her best childhood friend Severus Snape calling her out for being a muggleborn in the most painful and humiliating way possible back in their 5th year at Hogwarts. These events and others have contributed greatly to the development of the trait of bottling up her feelings and hiding her emotions. It has made her wary of letting new people (or old people in different ways) into her life, head and heart. Afraid of them getting to close and her personally putting someone in a position where they can hurt her, again.
Even though she has been hurt, she keeps the ones she loves and trusts close. She has the tendency to forget about herself though and puts their well-being in front of her own, neglecting her own feelings. This may sometimes contribute to her short-temperedness because, well, that's what bottled up emotions do when they all come out at once.
Lily has a good intuition, which has come in handy on several occasions. It helps greatly during classes and homework sessions because her keen eye quickly picks up things such as wand gestures and ingredient measuring for potions (which is probably one of the reasons she is good at Charms and Potions class). Also during her time as a Gryffindor Prefect and now as Head Girl it has come in handy several times during patrols, as she has caught students on numerous occasions while they were breaking the school rules or doing wrong to others.

History
Bithplace: A rundown industrial area near Spinner's End in Cokeworth, England. | Current Residence: A rundown industrial area near Spinner's End in Cokeworth, England. And of course Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. |
Parents: Father: Marcus Age: 45 Blood: Muggle Occupation: Flourist Mother: Marianne Age: 44 Blood: Muggle Occupation: Housewife | Siblings: Petunia Evans Age 18 Muggle. |
Others: Vernon Dursley, her sister's fiance/18/Muggle. | Pet: None. |
Lily's parents met in the little flower shop in front of The Railview Hotel in Cokeworth, then owned by Lily's grandparents, parents to Marcus Evans. Marcus worked there, trained to take over the family business when his parents would retire, and Marianne just happened to drop by one day to buy flowers for her mother's birthday. Can you guess? A beautiful bouquet of petunia's and lily's. After their marriage in 1958 Marianne became pregnant with their first-born, and the second one was on her way soon after that. In remembrance of the day and way Marcus and Marianne met, they respectively called their two daughters Petunia and Lily.
The two sisters were almost inseparable growing up. That is, until Lily turned seven years old, and started doing "funny stuff", as her sister would call it. Petunia was both intrigued and frightened at the same time, looking intensely as Lily pulled one of her tricks such as opening and closing the petals of a flower without touching them and at the same time telling her off, for her mother had told Lily numerous times not to perform tricks outside of the house, afraid of what the neighbors might say. Thus by constantly being told off, by the age of nine Lily had already gained some control over her new found powers and was able to control some tricks at will. That was also the age when she happened to meet Severus Snape, a boy her age living on Spinner's End, within walking distance to where Lily and Petunia lived. Severus had been keeping an eye on Lily for quite some time now, suspecting that she had, like him, magical qualities, and confronted her with it after he saw the flower trick and her slow her descent through the air after jumping off a swing. Lily did not believe him at first, but after this first face-to-face encounter they met more often at the playground and Severus told Lily everything he knew about the wizarding world and Hogwarts and slowly but surely, she started to believe him. Finding acceptance of what she was capable of with Severus, the two developed a great friendship.
When she received her acceptance letter for Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry Lily was overjoyed. Here, now, she had the proof black on white that Severus had been telling the truth all along, and she couldn't wait to spend the next seven years of school with her best friend. However, she did feel disappointed that she could not share this joy with her sister, who had begun to distance herself from Lily once she had received the letter. Petunia spend days locked up in her room and only spoke to Lily when necessary. The reason why became clear on September first 1971, when Lily boarded the Hogwarts Express for the very first time. On platform nine and three quarters, Lily revealed to her sister that she had found the rejection letter from Professor Dumbledore to Petunia as a reply he had sent to her request of joining the wizarding school. Petunia, shocked and angry that her secret was out, defended herself by saying she would never want to go to Hogwarts, called Lily and "that Snape-boy" a freak and Hogwarts a school for freaks and left Lily heart-broken and hurt to board the Hogwarts Express.
Here she joined Severus in a compartment he shared with two other boys. One messy black-haired which he made even messier by ruffling it up at the back of his head, and wearing small, round glasses. The other also black-haired, but neater and longer. She later learned that these boys were James Potter and Sirius Black, and she would be hearing from them a lot more in the future. At that moment, Severus and James were bickering over which house was best, Slytherin or Gryffindor. Sirius quickly took James' side and their friendship was formed, while Lily was mostly annoyed that the pair of later-to-be-known troublemakers were bothering her friend and told them off for that. James and Sirius then left the compartment while making some remarks about Severus and Lily being a couple.
Lily would meet James soon enough after that. During the Sorting Ceremony the Sorting Hat placed her into Gryffindor. As she walked over to the Gryffindor table Severus shot her a wary smile, disappointed she was not, like him, sorted into Slytherin. She happened to sit down right next to James. Once she realized that she turned her back on him in an instant, still annoyed, and ignored him for the rest of the evening.
Lily advanced through her first three years without much difficulty. She turned out to have a keen eye for wand movements and ingredient measuring in potions, which made her especially skilled in Charms class and Potions class. Once in her fourth year professor Slughorn took a special interest in Lily's potion making skills and named her a member of his elite group of students, known as the Slug Club, which was an achievement on it's own. Because even though it was not spoken out loud, all of the other members were known to be of pure and/or respective blood.
During Lily's fourth and fifth year the atmosphere around the school became more notably grim. More and more issues of the Daily Prophet reported about mysterious disappearances and there was talk of a dark lord rising with the intention of "cleansing the wizarding world of those not pure of blood". Even the word mudblood seemed to become a more acceptable term in the school halls to call people such as Lily, who was born to non-magical parents. But only out of earshot of the teachers. Lily's best friend, Severus, also seemed to distance himself from her, spending more time with his House friends Avery, Mulciber and Evan Rosier. Until one day, after their OWL's, things escalated.
Lily had come to Severus' aid when he was once again being bullied by James and his friends. This time, they had used a non-verbal spell to dangle him upside down by one ankle. Lily requested that James let him go, and once James did so (after trying to pursuae her into going out with him, to which she replied she "would never go out with an arrogant toe-rag like him, even if the choice were between him and the Giant Squid"), Severus, humiliated, spat out that he did not need any help from a mudblood. Hurt and humiliated, Lily ended their friendship, even after repeated excuses from Severus later that evening in front of the portrait of the Fat Lady which hid the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, stating that he had clearly chosen his path, and she had chosen hers.
Her sixth year at Hogwarts would be entirely different then what she had known and done up until now. This would be her first year without sharing a single thing with Severus. But as much as she missed their friendship, it could never be the same again. Lily had a handful of people she considered good friends, and with them she made the best of it, although her trust had obtained an enormous dent. She became more reserved, left the people close to her in but became more reserved to new people.
In july of 1977, she received an extra thick letter from Hogwarts. Curious as to how much more books she needed for her NEWT year, she was pleasantly surprised when she opened the letter and found a shiny new Head Girl's badge. Her enthusiasm slightly wavered though when she saw who had been named Head Boy. Of all people, it was James Potter. True he had seemed to calmed down somewhat during their sixth year and tried to keep himself in check. Nonetheless the past year he had spend more time in detention then out. But only the future could tell how this would turn out, and after all, who doubts Professor Dumbledore's decisions?

The gray sky was slowly but surely getting lighter, but no sun was yet to be seen. It was covered by clouds, hanging grim and dangerously above the trees of the Forbidden Forest. It looked like a storm could start raging over Hogwarts Castle and the school grounds at any moment. In one of the top towers, behind dark red curtains ,laying under dark red sheets, her hair almost the same color as those very same sheets thus barely noticeable, lay a young woman known by the name of Lily Evans. One arm stretched out above her head, one pale hand resting on the pillow next to her cheek, lips slightly parted. Peacefully asleep. For now.
A lightning bolt lit up the early morning sky, shortly followed by a loud bang and a lot of rumbling. It sent the girl shooting straight up. She looked around bewildered. She tried to kick of her blanket but her legs got stuck in the fabric. After fighting the blanket for about half a minute, she managed to free her legs and kick the blanket right off her four-poster bed and over her trunk, which stood at the foot end of her bed, covering it completely. She swung her legs right over the side, placed them firmly on the cold stone tiled ground and placed her hands firmly beside her on the mattress, as her breathing slowly began to even out. Pfew, what a way to start a day, Lily thought to herself. What time was it anyway? She reached out and grabbed her watch from the night stand right next to her bed. She examined the hour work. 8:15.
8:15! Morning classes started in fifteen minutes! As if struck by lightning herself she sprung off her bed and started gathering the clothes she had laid out the night before. At top speed, she changed into her school robes. Thank Merlin she had fastened her Head Girl's badge the night before onto the front of her robes. She wiggled her feet into her shoes as she quickly yanked a hairbrush through her hair, wailing softly when it got stuck on the tangles. When done she threw the brush onto her pillow and ran into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth at top speed and sprang right back into the girl's dormitories. She checked her watch. 10 minutes to go.
She ran out of the door, grabbing her bag on the way out. No time for breakfast, first class is in... she thought to herself as she pulled out her schedule on the way down to the common room. Huh? Empty? How in Merlin's name is that...? she thought, and then checked today's date. Her fast pace slowed down into a slow stroll. By now she had reached the common room. The fire nearly dying out. No student, house elf or even someone's pet to be seen. She flung herself onto the nearest sofa and hid her face in a bright red pillow, matching the flustered color of her cheeks and ears. What a way to start a Saturday morning.
