Although the vampiric qualities are there, they are not so prominent that Charlie cannot blend in with the humans. After the attack, his skin grew ghostly pale, while his eyes became hollow, glassy, and void of emotion (owing more to his time in Azkaban than to his attack). Dark circles permanently surround his eyes which adds to his generally gaunt appearance, and makes his naturally light brown eyes seem much darker from afar. His teeth are particularly white and sharp, but other than that, his traits are generally humanistic. He has a very warm smile, but tries not to show his teeth too much, so he rarely wears it. His hair has always been a dark brown, and he usually keeps it anywhere from neck- to shoulder-length; the longer it is, the less curly it is, but usually his locks are naturally quite curly. It takes on a glossy, stringy texture that makes it look perpetually damp.
Charlie's defined jawline is always layered with stubble, dark like his hair, but he tries to avoid letting himself look too scruffy. He does this partially to make himself look older, because his vampirism has preserved his youthful physicality. He has the body of a young man, about 21, and he likely will for a very long time - as a rule, vampires don't age, but because he was bitten young, he continued growing to his full adult form, and has been preserved from then on. He is slightly above average height and deceptively skinny, because he is quite strong. He is quick, agile, and powerful, which is unexpected because of his naturally slim body type. Because he always looked older than his age, because his body continued to age after the attack, and because Azkaban took its toll, it's very difficult to place his age, and people often mistake him for an older student, or as old as late 30s.
His pallid skin is covered in scars from years of living among nature and fights. In particular, he still wears the scratches from vampire teeth on the front and sides of his neck, but the battle scars are all over. Also on his neck is a 5-digit code that was tattooed there after he was sentenced to Azkaban. His left arm is also branded with the dark mark, though it - and many of his scars - are rarely noticeable due to his clothing choice. Charlie's style is perhaps the most peculiar aspect of his appearance; he always wears long sleeves and long pants, and several layers of clothing, no matter the temperature. His layers are always dark, heavy, and sometimes very primitive-looking. He certainly dresses for purpose rather than fashion, as his clothes are made to protect against the elements. As he gets acclimated to the human world again, his wardrobe is becoming a little more conventional so that he can blend in - a few robes and Muggle-looking clothes.

In a word, volatile. As a kid, he was pretty carefree, and part of him still is. When he forgets his resentment toward society, he actually gets along with most of it; Charlie is affable, approachable, and outgoing. He appreciates a sense of humor, and loves a good laugh. He's as much a listener as he is a talker, and likes to learn, so you'll have his ear if you have something interesting to share. However, be warned; he has a powerful memory, and will use anything you confide in him to his advantage; he is selfish above all else, which makes him manipulative, and unfortunately for those around him, his brains make him cunning, strategic. To say he is uncaring of others would be a lie, but he chooses his alliances cautiously. His loyalties can change as fast as his temperament if he sees something advantageous in switching.
Charlie is detail-oriented. He's not spontaneous, and likes having a plan and a backup plan and another backup plan. In fact, he's rather over-the-top about that. This calculating nature stems from his tendency to severely over-think things and his deep mistrust of others. Certain parts of his life, he is more than willing to share, but others, he will be careful to slip up. Some call it paranoid, and maybe it is, but he'd probably call it thorough and cautious. He is determined and stubborn, but also street smart, domineering, and has established a balance between doing what's right and doing whatever works, all of which make him a more-than-competent leader. He's a commanding figure, prone to give good orders and advice, a natural born problem solver, but also tending to be rather controlling and bossy when it's not his place. He has a strong understanding of political order and of justice due to his deep interest in law. If nothing else, he is fair, even when he is at fault.
As mentioned above, Charlie is volatile. He can be laughing with you, then stop abruptly and yell at you for laughing within seconds. His temper is astronomical and unpredictable, which only escalated since the attack. Also due to his vampirism, Charlie suffers - or benefits - from extreme physical sensitivity. His sense of taste is very picky; raw meats, warm drinks, little else. For touch, temperature is extremely noticeable; he does not care for heat, and notices even subtle changes in temperature. Although he can see especially well in the dark, his eyes are very sensitive to light of even the most muted brightness. His sense of smell is heightened, which is both beneficial and harmful. Other than this, his personality is, like his appearance, very akin to that of a human's; manipulative, cunning, good leader, but forgetting this harbored bitterness and resentment, very personable and amiable.

Charlemagne was raised an only child with a single parent, Aldric Galissard. He knows very little about his mother, only that she was a muggleborn, and that her name was Emilia. Frankly, he could not care less about her identity or her whereabouts. As a kid, sometimes he was curious, but when he asked his father about her, he would not relent any information, so most of the time he would just accept it. He was close with his father in the fact that they did a lot together; they would cook meals, work around the house, and Charlie would watch his father work. The two of them lived modestly in a small wizarding village called Barnton. Their area was typically low-income, a bit behind the times, and here, Aldric was the village Healer, and the two of them lived a simple but relatively normal lifestyle.
Charlie had very little, but he would spend his time playing outside, on a toy broomstick, or reading. He began showing magical signs around the age of seven. There were not many other kids his age, so he stayed on his own or in the company of adults a lot, but he was nevertheless social. They rarely left their small village, but occasionally Aldric's talents were summoned to other regions, and Charlie would go with. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, however, he had little trouble adjusting to the completely unfamiliar world, and his social and intellectual personality helped him make friends in both students and teachers. Here he was sorted into Slytherin due to his strong ambition, his mild talent, and, most likely, his half-blooded legacy.
At school, too, Charlie carried out his life in a rather normal lifestyle. He obtained respectable grades and an active social life, though he was far from the golden student. Having grown up in an entirely wizarding village, he had limited experience with Muggles, so he was quick to embrace the blood elitist policies of much of Slytherin house, but he was not nearly as adamant as some members of the house. Most of his friends were half or pureblooded, but he would interact with and chat with Muggleborns civilly, even if the conversation had an undertone of a superiority complex. Starting his third year, he played on the Quidditch team as a Beater, and also around this time became a ringleader of a gang of Slytherins who basically sought whatever seemed fun to them, drinking, partying, smoking, etc. To Charlie, that was gambling. For as long as he can remember, Charlie took interest in playing cards and dice - he would watch his dad and his friends play, and then as he got older would play himself both at home and at school and his mind was sharp and cunning enough so that he was very good at it. He and his friends made a habit of playing cards and smoking and drinking over the weekends - just in the name of having fun. In school, he had taken an interest and shown talent in Healing, which he intended to pursue, and politics, wizarding law, which was a second option.
During the breaks from school, he took up these seemingly harmless gambling habits at home in the local pubs as well. There wasn't much else to do in Barnton, to be honest, but occasionally it did attract visitors stopping by on their way to or from Liverpool or whatnot. People didn't really ask questions; they just cared if you played. One night, about a week before Charlie's seventh year would begin, he was playing cards in one of these pubs like he had throughout the summer. He had just been named Quidditch Captain, and would be serving his third year as a Slytherin prefect. So perhaps he was feeling a bit daring or reckless, but he felt like making some money off of the visitors, who were ignorant of his skills; he hustled them out of a significant sum of money, and one of them didn't take it so well. Charlie's luck ran out as this man was a vampire, who in his fury, attacked him viciously; Charlie tried to put up a fight but to no avail, and the vampire nearly drained his blood and left him to die.
Fortunately for him, his father was on the scene in an instant, and brought him home, and managed to save his life. For a few days, it looked uncertain whether Charlie would survive, but he did begin to recover. He could not, however, reverse the consequences of the attack, and from then on, Charlie was a full-fledged vampire. When he awoke for the first time, it did not register; his father handed him a bowl full of blood, and he took it without knowing exactly what he was drinking, and then was very concerned with himself when he found out. By the time he was healed enough to function, and by the time he fully accepted this transformation, the school year had long since started, and they had to make a decision about his future. The outlook on vampires was very divided in the wizarding world, and Charlie would not risk going back to school, possibly attacking friends, losing respect, or losing his wand. They told the school that he was too sick to attend, and left his classmates questioning what happened, while they kept his vampirism a secret from society, temporarily.
Charlie left Barnton almost immediately, trying to figure out what to do with his future, trying to adjust to the ranks of the living dead. He searched for a long time, futilely. His temptation to kill startled him, so he kept mostly to himself and fed on animals, and when he felt in control of himself he would mingle with the humans. He learned about blending in, which didn't always work, so he also learned about ridicule. About hatred. One summer day, when he was 19, during his travels, he began to catch on that he was being followed. Turns out, his condition had been noted by a vampire hunter, who one day attempted to kill him. Charlie fought back, though, and killed the man in the process. However, the Ministry heard of the incident, and he was apprehended; he stayed in Azkaban for about a year while his trial went on. A very skilled lawyer argued self-defense - after all, vampire hunting was illegal to begin with - and kept Charlie out of imprisonment for life, but he still stayed for a year. They figured that he would die either from lack of blood or from insanity, but he managed to get his hands on some of the corpses of the other prisoners who died, and he kept himself alive. One year later, they had to release him.
Charlie was furious at the way his trial had been treated by the Ministry, the press, and by society. It had been a public story - and it riled up anti-vampire hatred. By the time of his release, he had resolved to retaliate against society; he followed suit of Fenrir Greyback, who established an underground society of werewolves, and gathered up a following to form a village of vampires in Dering Woods. Despite his youth (he was 21 at this point), his natural leadership abilities - and the fact that he carried a wand (albeit illegally) unlike many of his peers who were vampires from birth - propelled him to the top of their group.
They formed a primitive but successful society, where they fed primarily on animals and the occasional wanderer into the woods, or they would go 'hunting' for people in local towns. Because of his newfound bitterness toward humankind, he no longer worried about killing, only about himself, and his own survival. He developed quite strong hand-to-hand combat skills, and weaponry skills, though his wandwork suffered from lack of use. He did, though, maintain his Healing skills, and tended to any injuries, while also serving as overall leader, settling disputes, organizing groups, making decisions - and still playing cards and gambling as he used to, of course.
In 1972, Charlie and the community was approached by a messenger from the Dark Lord, who sought alliance and support. A few months of debate followed; they had so successfully avoided wizarding society for a few years, and this would bring them back into it, albeit with a chance at vengeance. Although the Death Eaters, too, saw them as inferior creatures, they were at least treated better, seemingly, than they had been. Tom Riddle and many of his supporters had been classmates of Charlie at school, friends, allies, and though he was too years senior to Riddle technically, they had gotten on pretty well when they were younger. Popular support amongst the others made Charlie give his consent to support Voldemort in the approaching war; because he was leader, and still a wizard in a way, he was the only one branded with the Dark Mark, and so their campaign began.
Since then, he and the others have carried out numerous attacks on muggles and mudbloods, with no sign of stopping as Voldemort continues to seize power. Charlie spends a lot of time in the wizarding world, now, while also maintaining his leadership in Dering Woods. Most of the wizarding world knows that Voldemort won the support of the vampires (most of them, that is), and some of them know his story from ten years ago, but for the most part, Charlemagne has become quite adept at blending in with the crowd.
